The Cuban Revolution
After Batista declared the victory of Castro illegal in 1957, Castro and his supporters were driven into the hills. It took two years for Castro to claim his legal right of the election, but this was done in violence due to the resistance of Batista. After winning, realtions with the US started well, but quickly soured, driving Castro et al into the hands of the Soviet Union.
